People often ask what the difference is between FOS and PTA. The two groups work together very closely and are going forward with the idea that the FOS does the core fundraising, and that the PTA acts as the forum for discussion about the Serrania community. New this year is a position known as the "Parent Volunteer Coordinator" or the PVC who will provide a point of contact for anyone who wants to become involved in any aspect of the school. This person for the 06/07 season is Lauri Aud and she will help to match up parents with fundraising events or programs. We also have a "Room Parent Coordinator" who helps with making sure that all rooms are on board with all the activities at the school.

A new event that we hope to have this year is a weekend school promotional event that will be run in conjunction with our Middle School, Woodland Hills Academy (formerly Parkman). The purpose of this event will be to promote our school to the community.

The PTA meets every month, alternating mornings with evenings, and offers an opportunity for parents and teachers to be updated on recent school events and to raise issues and voice concerns regarding the current state of Serrania Elementary. In addition, PTA provides various after school enrichment programs ranging from foreign languages to dance and art classes.
