Welcome to Serrania Avenue
Serrania Avenue Elementary is a wonderful neighborhood school located south of Ventura Boulevard in Woodland Hills, California. We are a dynamic and diverse community in the southwest San Fernando Valley and are blessed with brilliant teachers and strong leadership. We have a successful SAS program in addition to the standards based curriculum and as a result of our active parent group, we offer an enriched curriculum to all our students. We are very proud of our many accomplishments to date, but are even more excited about the future of our school.

Computerwisekids at Serrania
We have a brand new computer lab class at Serrania through a learning company called Computerwisekids Inc. We started the first week of December and it has been going very well. There are always things for your students to do on the site if they would like to, and you as a parent should check it out as well - I think you will be impressed! MARCH 6TH - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR TREE PLANTING AT SERRANIA
Be part of an exciting neighborhood morning as we dig together and plant 25 trees around the school. This is the first phase of plantings for this Woodland Hills campus, located at 5014 Serrania Avenue. Spearheaded by parents at the school in partnership with TreePeople, the new trees will brighten the look and bring shade to this large campus. See the attached flyer for more details. NEW MATH PROGRAM AT SERRANIA
There is a new Math Program at the school called enVision MATH California. One of the many great features of this program is that parents now have an opportunity to go online to learn about the program and access homework. Attached below are the access instructions with specific codes for each grade level.

Collect Box Tops and Raise $$$ For Serrania!
Looking for a fun and easy way to raise money for our school? Your children can collect and turn in Box Tops - found on the packaging of so many of the food items you already buy! It's fun and easy and it is a way for the students to actively participate in raising money for their school. Check out the links and attachments below for creative ways of keeping track!

ACCELERATED READER PROGRAM
Have you heard about the wonderful reading program we have at Serrania? Attached is a letter from our librarian Mrs. Mason that explains all about it. If you have any questions, please email Dee Mason and she will get back to you as soon as possible. If you are looking for books from home that are a part of the program you can go to the AR Book Finder. If you want to go to the Home Connect page to see what books your student has read and how they have been scoring, you can go to AR Home Connnect. SIDEWALK TREE PLANTING at SERRANIA-Sat., March 6th from 9-12
With the help of TreePeople, Serrania Elementary has obtained the grants to cut the cement along the sidewalks of the campus and plant trees to add beauty and shade around the school!
It's a big undertaking and we need lots of volunteers!!!
This is a wonderful opportunity to teach your kids about how they can make a difference in a community. And men, we could really use some muscles to dig holes and help get these trees in the ground!
Once the trees are planted, we especially need people to adopt the trees, which means taking on the responsibility to water them for the next year.
DATE: SATURDAY, MARCH 6th, 9:00am - noon
PLACE: SERRANIA AVENUE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
WEAR: Hats, sunscreen, boots (and clothes, of course :-).
We are working on having snacks and lunch donated.
We will be planting, RAIN or SHINE. Hope to see you there!
