The 2009/2010 Student Council's final edition of the school newspaper, The Serrania Times, is attached below. Good work students on a job well done!

On the first da of school, it would be most appreciated if the following items were donated to the class to share. (Please do not write your child's name on any of the supplies.) Please bring items to school in a bag with your child's name on the bag.
1 plastic pencil box (5"x8"" to fit inside student's desk)
2 boxes tissue
1 box crayola crayons (24 count)
1 bottle Elmer's School Glue (4oz)
1 box colored pencils
3 reams white copy paper
2 packages glue sticks
2 pink pearl erasers
1 pair Fiskar scissors for children
1 pkg yellow number 2 pencils
***1 white 1" 3-ring binder with clear front cover (very important!!)
The following items are also needed and would be appreciated:
dry erase markers, all colors
2 large containers baby wipes
scotch tape to fit dispenser
liquid pump soap

Here's a fun & easy way for students to actively participate in raising money for Serrania. Your children can collect and turn in Box Tops, Campbell's UPC Labels, and Tyson A+ product flaps - found on the packaging of many of the food items you already buy!

Every label is worth a point for the monthly contest. Simply put the labels in a plastic bag with the child's first & last name and room number. Put the bags into the red bin in the office. Each month students with the most points win a prize.

Accelerated Reader Letter from Mrs. Mason

A California Distinguished School is an award given by the California State Board of Education to public schools within the state that best represent exemplary and quality educational programs. Approximately five percent of California schools are awarded this honor each year following a rigorous selection process. Eligibility is based on federal and state criteria including the No Child Left Behind program, Academic Performance Index (API), and Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP).

Special congratulations to Mrs. Sperber, Mrs. Hakobian, Mrs. Koff and ofcourse, to Mrs. Toder for all of their hard work in making this happen.
